These strings are promoted as the sound of the 60s - classic bass tone. Heard on many Jamerson, Motown and Duck Dunn, Stax recordings.
Sadly on my bass they sound dull, flat and wooden. I think this has got a lot to do with my small fingers and light touch - these strings are more suited to someone with big fingers and a hard, digging in, playing style.
Blame the workman, not the tools - but it was an expensive way to find out that I'm better off sticking with my Thomastik Jazz, low tension, flatwound strings.
Also, due to the high tension, you may need to tighten up the truss rod a bit - otherwise, like Jamerson, you'll get a 'banana neck'!
