Good in this price range
Benharmonic 20.03.2022
You aren't going to get absolutely neutral monitors in this price range. If you are getting these to mix or master on, you still have to learn how they are affecting the sound. They are very good for what they are: affordable but solid quality monitors. I especial like that the power supply on them can handle both American and European voltages. I had to leave my Yamaha monitors in the US when I moved to Germany, partly because they only take one type of voltage. These will most likely be coming with me if I ever move back to America.

Good but with small issues
J. Q. 16.01.2023
The sound out of these is quite good at volume and there's plenty of features on them that are good use, they have worked great for years in my home studio for mixing, playback, listening etc etc.
But they have a noticeable constant hiss at low volumes. I tried several times to remove this to no avail. It isn't loud at all so if you're working at regular volumes you won't even notice it, nor would you hear it over loud music, but if you're working quietly with these and on particularly quiet music it will come through.
Doesn't increase with the volume on the speakers or on the interface, it's one constant low volume hiss. It may not bother you or cause any issues - I've worked with these for years now and have no intention of changing them - but I thought first it was a fault or my setup (it wasn't).
Anyway - otherwise these sound great and 99% of the time that won't be a problem.

GH
Better than people think
Gary H 01.09.2020
I looked at a lot of budget monitors which eventually led me down the road of researching the JBL 30xP series. I found a really in depth analysis which the consensus was that they are the best bang for your buck;

I actually looked into the history of JBL and how the name actually came to be; James Bullough Lansing was a pioneering audio engineer who contributed greatly to loudspeaker manufacturing.

It turns out they're owned by Samsung which probably explains the affordability. Still, pretty cool stuff.

I initially bought the 306P but for the room I was placing them in, they are too much. Bass traps are much more apparent than the 305P and very audible from the other side of my house. Therefore I coupled my 306Ps with my Yamaha HS8s in and what a combo they are! When you go from listening to both of them together to each of the pairs individually, wow you realise how flat the Yamaha HS8s are. Also the JBLs aren't perfect but there's much less noticeable dip in clarity through the spectrum when I listen to each of them isolated.

Totally recommend

The best low price audio monitors
Davidhn 21.07.2023
The best audio monitors I have ever had, since I bought them I always use them, they have a very good frequency range to equalize music, balanced input, manual audio parameters to customize, among other things.
The only flaw I find is that the low frequencies do not sound very strong, so I recommend using a specialized bass monitor if you are looking to do a more professional job.

o
Too bright for my taste
olymind1 16.12.2018
I'm using them for gaming, videos, music.

They have standby / auto mute feature, and instantly wake up to signal after 1-2 seconds.

They have a slight white noise but my computer is a little louder so i'm not bothered by it. Using them on volume 5 out of 10, they easly fill the 3.75m x 4.3m room with sound.

Have wide sound stage, big, clean, transparent sound, though not very linear, V-ish characteristic. Good bass for their size.

Though for my taste they're too bright even with -2db HF setting. Have too much emphasis on the the upper mid and high frequency, which can be distracting sometimes. Not always too pleasent to listen to them. Here and there have problem with S C letters, also male voices sounds slightly thin, weak bodied, lacks weight. Tried with different sources and opamp configurations.

Lindsey Stirling sound good-ish on them, while Apocalyptica lack something on the mids / lower mids.

I probably like darker and warmer sounding speakers.

For me they are just okay sounding, not bad, far from it, but these are not made for my preference, maybe others will like them or good for monitoring.

After 1.5 weeks on both monitors' top, near the corners the external layer slightly starter to peel off, probably the glue weakened. Also not a fan of the shinny plastic.

But liked the volume controller with small steps that clicks onto place.

Don't know if i'll keep them.

k
Sound is great
keith812 06.02.2019
Pros: Upgraded from a cheap speaker, the sound is extremely satisfactory. Good stereo imaging,
Cons: One problem is the hizzing noise appeared after running the speakers a week. For me, it does not bother me most of the time as my place is not a silent environment. Sometimes it does in the night time, but it is acceptable for me. If you have a very quiet computer, you may research more to see whether you can accept it.

Great speakers overall
Sacredheal 17.12.2019
I'm not an audiophile or something so i can't have a technical opinion on these. They sound amazing ,very crisp and clear sound, the only thing that really bothers me is that they hiss. There is this constant hiss which renders me unable to listen to stuff at low volumes. From what I read online the cause is the cheap amp they contain which is sad because they really sound beautifully, constant hissing is the only problem i have...

AS
Pleasant sound
AGUILERA STAN 03.05.2020
The JBL's were recommended by two close friends of mine.
I was looking for affordable and good monitors.
I must say they have a little bit of noise going on, but only when nothing is playing or coming through.
As soon as you turn on the music, you can't hear the noise anymore.
For their price, the boxes are very good! I would recommend them to everybody who's on a budget.
