I wanted a cheap six string bass to go with my fretless Warwick Corvette 6, kind of as a back-up and for just noodling around with. This Ibanez fits the bill quite nicely. I preferred this instrument over the Harley Benton fretted six basses, of which many people say "they're nice, but..."
Please do keep in mind, however, that this is a budget instrument, so corners have been cut to keep the price low. The electronics are adequate, and can be dialled to a useful variety of tones ranging from fairly mellow to fairly growly. The stock strings are meh. The neck and fretwork are actually better than I expected. The body has a nice open wood grain finish, but also some rough spots. The factory setup was terrible though. The action was way too high and intonation was nonexistent. Be ready to do this properly yourself. Other than that, I'm having fun fooling around with this bass.
