Works fine but there might be better options available.

I got this as a replacement for a Fender P-bass.

First of all, it doesn't look quite as nice in real life as on the photos. It looks and feels kinda cheap. It also looks very different from the original Fender part.

Secondly, it doesn't include a mounting screw. Not a big deal and I know now that the product description mentions this. I didn't notice when ordering as I had originally ordered the original Fender part but it was delayed and never came back in stock so it held up my order. The Thomann team suggested this one as a replacement and I just accepted it without checking the description to finally get my order processed. I just assumed it would be a more or less identical replacement part. My mistake for not checking.

Finally, and most importantly: It has these grooves on the bottom side where the strings are supposed to fit. They are totally unnecessary, just an extra hassle because it needs to be aligned with the strings (and it's impossible to see from the top if it is aligned of not). The original Fender part does NOT have these grooves and is therefore easier to install.

It works fine I guess but I would rather recommend the original part, at least if it's for a Fender. There's so little money to save for something that gives a slightly inferior impression.

Cheap knock off

It looks a lot better on the pictures than it is from close. Nickel looks cheap and the shape is alltogether weird, don't buy it you're looking for a cheap fender alternative.

Good look but wrong size

This is a good part but much lower than the original Fender one as it takes the strings even closer to the headstock than the original stringtree. Would recomend if you are ok with having the strings much closer to the headstock as the price is very nice. Does not come with the mounting screw which would be handy.

Wish they'd make those flying V string trees again
Leftygaucher 06.05.2018
Remember those V-shaped string trees on older Japanese guitars? Love those.

These Gewa units do the job. I know it's a cheap piece of gear but If I had to criticize something, it would be the light and flimsy-feeling pot metal material they're made of and the usual difficulty inherent to round string trees whereby it's hard to determine where and which way the string grooves are on the underside.
