I bought these to string my 6 String Maruszczyk Elwood (essentially a 6 string passive jazz bass). These strings are incredible. They feel great, very light tension but no issues with intonation or holding their tuning. I did have to adjust the saddles slightly (going from roundwounds to these) but nothing crazy, very easy to do yourself with a tuner and screw driver. I also didn't have to change or file the nut down at all to make these fit. I previously had 125 - 35 roundwounds on my bass.
I used these with my jazz trio - guitar bass and drums, playing modern jazz (Julian Lage, Pat Metheny sound), but I also played a few function gigs - standard pop/party band covers, and these sounded great for both settings. Compared to roundwounds, these have a fatter and smoother sound, but with good sustain and very low tension. You do lose a slight amount of "bite" or definition (as with flat wounds vs roundwounds), but not much. In both settings I was still heard clearly and had no issues in front of house, from my amp, or in my in ear monitors. They aren't made for slapping, but you can still get a decent slap sound from them - depending on your bass.
Would highly recommend if you want a slightly smoother sound over roundwounds. I have also strung one of my 5 strings (Peavey Millenium BXP) E-C using the strings in this set and honestly it sounds and plays amazing. My main bass for my trio now and we have an album to record in the works and other than when playing upright I will be using the Peavey with these strings on it.
Highly recommend and a great price especially for a 6 string set.
