The original 5-way switch on my 1987 American Standard Stratocaster had worn out (intermittently bad contacts in some positions), so I ordered this as a replacement.

It's pretty much exactly the same thing as the original, so needless to say, if fitted like a charm. It comes with mounting bolts and both black and white plastic knobs, but I retained my original, as all the other parts of this guitar have yellowed with age).

Look, its a switch, and its not going to magically improve your tone, but if it lasts me another 32 years on this guitar like the last one did, that's really all I can ask.

This is a top-notch replacement part. Very sturdy and will probably last a few decades. Very smooth operation and has a very tight feel (no wobbling in the in-between positions).

Typical Strat replacement
wgen 10.11.2016
I bought this classic 5 way switch in the past for my Strat, when I had to re-make all the internal wiring.
It did work just ok, but I'm not that much confident with its quality overall. When I had done all the wiring, guitar set to play and all, I found that the switch was showing a little opposition every time I had to select the fifth position of the switch.
This happened because the little moving metal strip inside of the switch, which is there to make the connection to the pickups' signals, was bouncing with one of the other little metal parts inside of the switch itself when I selected the fifth position. It was a little annoying, and after some time I replaced this switch with another one of this same model, and everything went better then

I've seen a few switches like this before, and this kinda is a benchmark for them.

Definately needed in any guitar you buy from HB. Has a great feel an is rigid enough to take a lot of abuse

Installed this on my friends mystery strat that had been in a fire and none of the electrics worked. Does the job perfectly and has a nice click

Working

The thing is working, but maybe not as smooth as you might expect it. It has to be oiled before you can put it in, that will make for a much better "switching experience". If you want to have the really boutique-like smoothness, you might want to drop a couple quid more!

Weak

There is not much resistance between the different positions so it knocks out of position easily. The 5 way superswitch on my stock MIM strat is more firm.

I own two of these and both have this problem. So it is not a one off.
