I use a single ply coated head on most snare drum, I find it ideal for sound and feel.
Two ply heads tend to feel heavy to the touch when playing whereas single ply really offers this comfortable response when playing loud or quiet.
Another single ply headm the G1 Genera, is designed for snare but has a muffling ring underneath and I find that the G1, not featuring this ring, is easier to play. The possibility of getting all the overtones available is important to me, it's always possible to chuck a tone control afterward if needed.
If you consistently hit as hard as you can, you may find that this drum head doesn't last as long as you'd wish which might be the only drawback for this item.
This is the drum head for me - works perfect with a Ludwig Supraphonic 400 14'' x 5''.
