From the inventor of guitar strings

Strings made by Ernie Ball - the proverbial icing on the cake for a powerful sound with plenty of sustain. Since the early 1960s, the US company has been making strings for almost every stringed instrument. This vast wealth of experience is clearly demonstrated in every product, and it is not by chance that Ernie Ball remains one of the market's leading manufacturers to this day. The product range has expanded immensely over the course of several decades and now includes many accessories such as effect pedals, cables, straps, and high-quality picks alongside the company's extensive selection of strings. However, Ernie Ball's core business is and remains the production of all manner of strings, which set standards in terms of sound, tuning stability, and durability - and the company is still based in Indio, California.

Ernie Ball 2215 String Set for Electric Guitar

The perfect mix for lead guitarists

The Ernie Ball 2215 string set is perfect for guitarists who appreciate heavy bass strings but prefer lighter treble strings for solos. The wound strings feature a hexagonal steel core beneath nickel-plated steel windings. The plain strings, on the other hand, are made from a specially hardened and tin-plated high-tensile carbon steel. With gauges of .010, .013, .017, .030, .042, and .052, the 2215 string set offers top-notch performance for lead guitarists in particular, and these strings excel with clean intonation along the entire length of the fingerboard as well as lastingly stable and reliable tuning as soon as you put them on.

Traditionally reliable

Thanks to its long playing life, loud and well-balanced sound, precise intonation, and high tuning stability, the Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom string set is particularly recommended as a reliable companion for ambitious guitarists who want enhanced playability, for example when playing solos, but still don't want to go without a powerful sound for chunky riffs and precise chord work. The combined power of over 50 years of experience in string development at Ernie Ball also makes the Ernie Ball 2215 strings the first choice for electric guitars - and at a very fair price.

About Ernie Ball

The Ernie Ball company was named after its founder and has its headquarters in San Luis Opisbo, California. Being a guitarist himself, Ernie Ball knew their needs very well. A major problem for him in the 1950s and 1960s was the lack of high-quality guitar and bass strings. In 1962, Ernie Ball invented the “Slinky”, a very flexible and therefore much more comfortable string, which also sounded better and was more durable. He specifically brought individual string gauges onto the market for a young clientele and touring musicians. The company’s success was unstoppable, and today Ernie Ball is the world's largest manufacturer of guitar and bass strings. Over the years, the range has expanded and now includes accessories such as cables, picks, straps, etc. Ernie Ball is also known in connection with the instrument manufacturer Music Man, which the company bought in 1984, but which continues to operate as an independent brand.

From Funk to Metal

The Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom string set offers a rich, balanced sound that brings out the best in your electric guitar. The strings' precise intonation means that chords, riffs, and solos will always sound bright and clear anywhere on the fingerboard. In addition, these strings deliver excellent tuning stability as well as a direct tonal response, all of which will be helpful in getting your timing as precise as possible. Whether you are playing powerful high-gain riffs, crystal-clear clean parts, or expressive solos, the Ernie Ball 2215 strings offer the perfect balance between playing feel, durability, and a full sound.

Perfect For My Needs

I have multiple guitars which I mess around on, strats and tele's I usually string those with standard pink slinky's and they are nice for Eb tuning also.

However when it comes to my Les Paul and PRS Custom 24 I usually keep these in Drop D and sometimes Drop C, when using my standard strings on these they always sounded thin and just didnt feel right, moving to these Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom gives me the right amound of flex in the treble strings and a nice thump from the bass strings. I play a lot of Tool songs in my band and these strings have become the norm for my altered tuning guitars.

b
Skinny top heavy bottom indeed
blaz.evic 31.05.2023
I recently tried the Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings, and I have to say, they are fantastic. These strings are specifically designed for those who enjoy playing in Drop D tuning or standard tuning with a slightly chunkier feel. I primarily use them on my Les Paul, and they have exceeded my expectations.

The Skinny Top Heavy Bottom configuration, with gauges ranging from 10 to 52, strikes a perfect balance between lighter strings for faster playing and heavier strings for a fuller tone. The slightly thicker lower strings provide excellent tension for drop tunings, ensuring a tight and well-defined sound. Whether you're riffing power chords or playing intricate lead lines, these strings deliver clarity and punch, allowing for exceptional articulation and note definition.

One aspect I particularly appreciate is the consistent quality of Ernie Ball strings. These strings have proven to be durable and long-lasting, which is important for players like me who tend to play extensively. The solid construction of the strings ensures they can handle bends, vibratos, and heavy playing without sacrificing their tone or breaking easily.

Overall, the Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings are a fantastic choice if you're looking for a versatile set that excels in drop tunings and provides a chonkier feel. They work exceptionally well on Les Paul guitars, delivering a great balance of playability and tonal richness. If you're a fan of 10-gauge strings, I highly recommend giving the 10-52 set a try. You won't be disappointed.

Ernie Ball 2215

I've been using these strings for a few years now. They feel absolutely amazing. I usually swap a lot between std E and drop D. At these strings are great for that. Not to floppy. Tried playing 9's and they are great, but I guess i got used to these to much, 9's felt a bit floppy and 11's felt a bit hard to play, these are just perfect middle. Also it is good to know that you could probably easily drop these strings to let's say std D and they still sounds and works good. One more thing - they last. Which is I think also important both for gigging guys and for guys at home, you can play with them, for a very long time.

Great set of strings if you downtune and like to bend.
Mr.Gandalf 24.03.2021
I bought this set of strings for my Harley Benton SC custom II. Like all Ernie Ball strings, these last long and have a great tone to them. I can tune my guitar in standard D, C# and drop B without any problems. Of course I don't mind the looseness and if you are a hard hitting guitar player I suggest you consider thicker gauges for C# and below. Perfect for D standard, drop C , Eb and E standard if you have the cojones!
