From the inventor of guitar strings

Strings made by Ernie Ball - the proverbial icing on the cake for a powerful sound with plenty of sustain. Since the early 1960s, the US company has been making strings for almost every stringed instrument. This vast wealth of experience is clearly demonstrated in every product, and it is not by chance that Ernie Ball remains one of the market's leading manufacturers to this day. The product range has expanded immensely over the course of several decades and now includes many accessories such as effect pedals, cables, straps, and high-quality picks alongside the company's extensive selection of strings. However, Ernie Ball's core business is and remains the production of all manner of strings, which set standards in terms of sound, tuning stability, and durability - and the company is still based in Indio, California.

The classic in the product portfolio

The 2221 Regulars Slinky strings are the most classic product in Ernie Ball's range and have been a top seller for decades, used by many international stars. The wound strings feature a hexagonal steel core beneath nickel-plated steel windings. The plain strings, on the other hand, are made from a specially hardened and tin-plated high-tensile carbon steel. With gauges of .010, .013, .017, .026, .036, and .046, the 2221 Regular Slinky set offers top performance for lead guitarists in particular, and these strings excel with clean intonation over the entire length of the fingerboard as well as permanently stable and reliable tuning as soon as you put them on.

Traditionally reliable

Thanks to its long playing life, loud and well-balanced sound, precise intonation, and high tuning stability, the 2221 Regular Slinky string set is particularly recommended as a reliable companion for ambitious guitarists who want great playability, for example when playing solos, but still don't want to do without a powerful sound for chunky riffs or snappy chord work. The combined power of over 50 years of experience in string development at Ernie Ball also makes the 2221 Regular Slinky strings the first choice for electric guitars - and at a very fair price.

About Ernie Ball

The Ernie Ball company was named after its founder and has its headquarters in San Luis Opisbo, California. Being a guitarist himself, Ernie Ball knew their needs very well. A major problem for him in the 1950s and 1960s was the lack of high-quality guitar and bass strings. In 1962, Ernie Ball invented the “Slinky”, a very flexible and therefore much more comfortable string, which also sounded better and was more durable. He specifically brought individual string gauges onto the market for a young clientele and touring musicians. The company’s success was unstoppable, and today Ernie Ball is the world's largest manufacturer of guitar and bass strings. Over the years, the range has expanded and now includes accessories such as cables, picks, straps, etc. Ernie Ball is also known in connection with the instrument manufacturer Music Man, which the company bought in 1984, but which continues to operate as an independent brand.

From Funk to Metal

The Ernie Ball 2221 Regular Slinky string set offers a rich, balanced sound that brings out the best in your electric guitar. The strings' precise intonation means that chords, riffs, and solos will always sound bright and clear anywhere on the fingerboard. In addition, these strings deliver excellent tuning stability as well as a direct tonal response, all of which will be helpful in getting your timing as precise as possible. Whether you are playing powerful high-gain riffs, crystal-clear clean parts, or expressive solos, the Ernie Ball 2221 Regular Slinky strings offer the perfect balance between playing feel, durability, and a full sound.

Feel and sound amazing!
Dutchy- 04.06.2021
I'm a beginner, so I don't have much knowledge on how different strings play, but these are great for my use. Seems to be good for everyone with how many people use these strings, they must be bestsellers for a reason!

After putting these strings on I noticed a huge improvement from the strings that were already on the guitar, they actually felt a slight bit easier to play in my limit experience. They sound much nicer too, quite a bright sounding set of strings. I can't attest to how long they last, seems to vary person to person. A decent amount of people seem to think they last a while, even after the bright sound is gone, they still play and feel good. Again, I can't say much about that as of yet.

They're perfect for me though, and they're well priced. If you aren't a huge fan of brighter tones I would suggest trying other strings, but they're so affordable you may as well try them out anyway! I'd highly recommend!

LL
Excellent Tonal Balance and Easy to Install Electric Guitar Strings
Leopoldo Lopes 25.04.2023
The Ernie Ball 2221 Electric Guitar String Set is a great choice for any guitar player looking to upgrade their strings. One of the standout features of these strings is the tonal balance they provide. They produce a warm and rich sound that's well-rounded and perfect for a variety of playing styles.

Another thing I appreciate about the Ernie Ball 2221 strings is how easy they are to use. Installing them on my electric guitar was a breeze, and they stayed in tune very well. The strings feel smooth and comfortable to play, which makes it easy to achieve the sound you're looking for.

Overall, I highly recommend the Ernie Ball 2221 Electric Guitar String Set to anyone looking for strings that offer excellent tonal balance and are easy to install. They're a great investment for any guitar player.

Great quality acoustic guitar
Irish Mick 07.09.2024
The guitar arrived setup really well. It has a lovely low action without any fret buzz from the strings. I was really impressed with the intonation as well even at the higher frets. Barre chords are a breeze to play and there is a really nice rich sound from the guitar that being a solid top should only improve with age. The guitar is also really good looking, the solid mahogany is gorgeous and complimented very well by the chrome hardware.

There are 2 issues that let it down slightly are, when it arrived there was a lot of white dust on the guitar and it took a bit of polishing to get it looking right, especially around the unlacquered bridge. The other issue is the bridge pins are a bit flimsy and tend to pop out, it took a bit of force to secure the G string which popped out a few times on me. I hope that this won't be an ongoing annoyance atevery string change. But, all in all for €195 I can live with these for a guitar that looks, sounds, and plays as well as this does. It really does feel like a much more expensive guitar and is amazing value for money.

Ernie Ball are the best guitar strings there are
danstabwoi 01.04.2018
Never had a problem with these. No fuss and no nonsense?they just work. My Les Paul and my Strat sound amazing whenever newly strung with them, and they feel awesome to bend on.

That tone, of course, doesn't last long if you're playing 2-3 hours or more per day, but I find with Ernie Ball they actually also sound good as they age and wear out. Different, but good, which is why I choose them. With other strings I've tried they really sound dull after a week.

The ability to customise your gauge by buying individual strings is a brilliant plus also with these. I could not get my SG to tune to C sharp with the readily available gauge sets I found on the net. With Ernie Ball I could customise my third string to work properly and intonate well and bend properly.

Recommended.
