I bought the ST2006C without testing at all.
First I read some reviews and heard some samples.
But actually, I bought them without knowing exactly what they would sound.
First of all, I use the microphones at classical location recording.
Minimalist setup, only these two in an AB setting, about 50cm apart.
All recordings have a full spectrum sound. Nice low and (very) crisp highs.
My advise, never point them directly at the source but point them up.
It glues an ensemble together and in post you turn on an EQ, if necessary.
The small preamps (C) have a tendency to sound a little muddy, or more positive, warm of euphonic. I always use an EQ to get the sound I want. Most of the time, a little less warm. Also the capsules have the tendency to sound just a tiny little bit harsh between 2-4k. But nothing that couldn't be fixed with EQ.
Conclusion
The DPA 2006C is a very nice microphone for the money you pay. You can get better, but you pay for it.
