Attempting to find the Nick Drake sound
Phil Seniors 21.05.2020
I bought these as I saw a YouTube clip about trying to get Nick Drake's guitar sound. Obviously the type of guitar, picking technique and tuning are most important - but these strings already add another quality to achieving that tone...and i gather that they will sound 'more so' like Nick, as they become worn, and warmer. Would recommend.

Well balanced warm tones with clear highs
johan75 29.12.2019
I use these strings on a Furch OM-32 spruce top, mahogany back. I play only fingerstyle, mostly blues. I'm very pleased with the balanced tone. I've played the NB 1252BT for a while but switched to these because the .022 G-string of NB 1252BT set wears too quickly. Also, the NB 1253 has a slightly tighter and thicker bass sound.

Usually I use D'Addario EXP16. Tried those since were new product and cheaper. Nice sounding when new. Becoming hard when older. Didn't last long, replaced after apx 3 months. Will not buy again.

I love these strings
LeonardS 10.12.2018
The moment you put these strings on something sounds differently. I simply love the sound of these strings. They feel well and met my expectations. To my surprise they do hold their sound very long and when I want to change them I always keep them on a little longer, yes even after a couple of months. I am a finger picker and I love the balance certainly when playing open chords. Give them at least a try would be my advice. You will hear the wood of the guitar immediately.

Nickel Bronze

Since I am a big fan now of Nickel based guitar strings and have played C.F.Martin Retros for awhile I thought I would give these a try.

Sound: They have a nice warm sound due to the Nickel which I like and the high strings have a brilliance character too them.Actually after 2 days of playing them they project the tone quite well...and that is on a guitar with solid mahagony top and sides.
Playabilty: no complaints at the moment, I prefer non coated strings personally.Coated strings are a bit too slippery...
Build quality: d'addario is a good brand..no complaints here.

I went back and forth between my Lakewood D14CP with spruce top and mahagony back and sides with c.f.martin retros on it and my Lakewood M14 -2020 Edition with these Nickel Bronze strings on it.
Of course the Tonewoods play a role in the tone......the Retros have been longer....and all this is subjective to personal taste....but after going back and forth and compairing both I came to the conclusion that if I had to choose which strings I like better then it would be the Retros.
Dont get me wrong...I like the Nickel bronze strings...they sound good...but different..more volume and NOT so mellow/vintage/woody/organic as the c.f.martin Nickel/Copper alloy.
What i can say is this.....They honestly are my second choice up to this point and would recommend them.

I hope this is helpful to someone looking for a warmer sounding set of strings with a touch of brightness and projection.

Something special
Thomusicman 01.09.2017
I've tried these strings out on my all-mahogany Martin and been positively surprised by clarity they brought. Allthough I will still prefer 80/20 bronze strings on the all-hog guitar, the NB set should definitely be on the options list searching for some changes in any guitar's sound via putting up a new set of strings.

As I say, these strings are really good, exellent sond and quality. What I do not like is this to rusty felling and it do not last so long. I use now XS from daddario.
