A
Punchy but a little dull in lower tunings
Anonymous 10.08.2014
These strings are very well built and strong, as always can be expected from D'Addario. They're nice to play and and feel comfortable in standard tuning/Drop A however going any lower than that or into any other altered tunings and they can become a bit less clear and rather muddy. However I am not a dedicated bassist, but rather a guitarist who plays bass when recording demo's for my band so for the amount I actually play bass these strings are good enough although maybe next time I'll go for a custom gauge set to provide brighter highs and clearer lows.

Nice Strings, but not the best you can get!
Bushman 17.02.2014
Well, I tried a couple of strings in the last months and this Set from D'Addario was one of them. I can compare them to Ernie Ball, GHS and Rotosound-Strings. The sound of the D'Addario-Strings is good. The B-String got a fat but pretty clear Sound and it has a great tension: not too soft and not too hard.
Compared to the other Strings I used I would vote them between the Rotosounds (worst Strings I've tried imo) and the GHS (Boomers). The reason why I gave the D'Addarios only 4/5 * for the Sound is that I preefer Stainless Steel Strings because of their aggressive tone. Compared to the Ernie Ball (Nickel)-Strings they don't have the Punch, which i love from EB-Strings. But for this price you can't make anything wrong with buying D'Addario Strings. ;)

I used them all the time at the past but i wanted something with less tension for my right hand so i went to fender and ernie ball. Very happy with them now!
