My 1st choice for roundwounds
James894 13.11.2020
Having tried several other string brands over the years, I've always gone back to D'addario XL Nickels, for me they feel and sound amazing. I cannot fault them in anyway and are perfect for me. I play a primarily in a wedding/function band, paired with my P bass these cut through the mix and are punchy without being over bright/harsh. 10/10 would recommend them to anyone looking to try out nickel bass strings.

IC
Best Strings in my opinion
Isaac Campos 05.03.2019
Just that...
I find in them anything I need, tone and definition-wise, and I just couldn't be happier with their quality!!!
I like to play around with different tunings, and thet offer a wide range of gauges. Also, the fact that a huge range of singles of any gauge are available to customize sets, is brilliant!!!
From time to time I try other brands, and many are OK, but is just I have found my feel and tone with D'Addario, and I'm always going back to using them.
It's a matter of taste, as always when sound is involved.
For me they're PERFECT, I love them!!!

These are my new standard bass strings!
I was looking for bass strings with a good quality/ price ratio.
I have been playing ernie ball slinky strings for quite some time
but I was looking for a cheaper alternative so I blindly bought
the Daddario EXL165TP just because of the 2 sets.

Anyway, the most important thing is the sound, which is great, too:
Great sustain, punchy lows and bright highs.
I play Punk & Hardcore mostly and I always add
some overdrive or fuzz to the sound which also suits
the sttrings sound perfectly, not too muddy not too harsh.

Also, they are really long lasting, it taks some time
until they start losing that brightness
It's a great deal, I will buy them again!

M
the sound is way too metallic
McKind 24.04.2022
I thought that this was because they were new, but after a month, this is still the case.
I have always used Warwick yellow label (also Nickel) and one could say that those are pretty dull strings, but on my Jazz bass they used to sound great, very rich in trebles with tone set to max or so. Now I need to cut a lot the trebles (read: the knob is set between 1/4 and 1/3) in order to avoid that metallic rattle.

Fairly good strings
Agnor 28.03.2015
Bought these purely for the double pack and that I've never tried D'Addario strings before. Strung up my Jazz bass with these, and was immediately struck by two things: The bright, full sound and the tension. I did really like the sound of these when I first put them on, but found the tension too high for my liking. After about two weeks, the strings didn't have a particularly great sound and I would consider them 'dead', but then I do crave a very bright and twangy sound.

A lot of people do really like these strings, but they're just not for me and they're not exactly breaking the bank.

B
Most useful bass strings
Brbrn 26.05.2020
I'm amateur player, playing once a week, for 3 hours and the oldest ones lasts for 3 years. None broke or made damage. They are also gentle with the frets, nut and my rosewood. Most useful bass strings for variety of music styles. Moderate price is helpful - especially for this double pack. These are the right choice strings for those who appreciates reliability and are not experimenting

Good value for money
Traian80 08.03.2021
As bass strings are so expensive i prefer this set of 2 and save some money. Just classic D'Addario quality, they sound very good, it's a pity they loose their brand new harmonics so fast, just like every other string out there :)

Good value strings for bass
Vinter 23.02.2021
You can never go wrong with Daddario strings on your guitars. The value is excellent, not only is it competitive with other brands, but there is the Daddario Player Circle system that allows you to redeem Daddario strings for points which in turn can net you more strings.

What's in a name?
Ralphius 14.10.2020
I have used D'Addario strings on my acoustic adn electric guitars for years, so when I got an electric bass they were my first choice.

No complaints. Rich sound, nice feel and long lasting.

Solid set of strings
Anonymous 08.04.2015
These D'Addario strings are affordable and long lasting and best of all, there were two sets for a very reasonable price. Got a very bright sound from them. They area great for casual use as I got about six months use out of one set. So basically a year worth of bass playing goodness from the pack itself! They are made from nickel, which is cheaper than your regular Rotosound or Ernie Ball round wounds that I would typically use but the price that Thomann were charging was simply too good to turn down! I believe more string makers should be making multi sets with professional musicians in mind and D'Addario certainly made a good set here.
