Daddario EXL165

I love the sound and feel of fresh strings, and I've been trying a good few brands to get the lasting freshness and for a good feeling string.

The strings certainly last longer than other brands but I didn't like the initial feel of the strings. They feel rough on the fingers. Not bad, but not desirable either. By the time this roughness starts to wear out, the strings have started to lose their freshness. The one way to fix this is to use some sort of string lube, but I'd rather a string that would feel good out of the box.

For me, this strings sound very good, but they don't last long

I've been using D'addario's for years mainly because I get overwhelmed with choice sometimes, and I know these work for me! For generic packaged items such as strings I have no hesitation recommending Thomann - cheaper than many stores and quick delivery.

I'm a guitarists so in coming from that point of view but regardless. I tend to use D'addarios on my regular guitars and Ernie Ball on some other guitars but I thought I'd give these a bass for the bass for price reasons and I liked the gauge that was offered.

Great strings and hold up well and keep brightness and sturdyness for a good while.

Not much else to say other than I'll most likely be using these brand/gauge for a while!

I have always used these strings. the sound is consistent and i really like the old round wound sound you can get out of them if you leave them on long enough. in short the really great strings.
