Bugera V5 gets a new life
Sævar 02.11.2020
I bought this speaker to replace the original Turbosound speaker in my little Bugera V5 Infinium combo. What a difference!
The whole speaker swap procedure took me 5 minutes. The new speaker fitted snugly. No drilling needed. I had to adjust the negative connector slightly (I just used pliers, I guess a professional would replace it or solder the wire).

The best way to describe it is to say that it opened the Bugera up. It added a lively top end and low end definition, making the Bugera sound way better and more lively than it did.

I highly recommend a speaker update if you have have this amp. When you do you realise how boring and tinny sounding the original speaker really is. I have not tied the 8" Jensen, but it was a toss-up between the two. I chose the Celestion mainly because it was in stock and I have always liked the 12" Celestion speakers I have owned.

As far as the standard pros & cons go what I have said so far all counts as pros, and to be honest I cannot think of a single con. I have now used this for a week and I am very happy I bought it.

I also changed the preamp valve, but what made the big difference was Celestion Eight.

1st impression is good!
JayGR 06.07.2018
This speaker replaced the stock one in a Peavey Rage 158 originally purchased in 1996.
It hasn't been broken in properly yet (I'll update the review in 3-4 months), but my 1st impression is that clean sounds are much more detailed and musically articulate.
The distorted channel still sounds quite harsh and nasal but is slowly getting better. Overall I think this is an upgrade worth the money that brings new life to an old piece of gear and upgrades its sound quality. I play mostly metal music and it seems to fit the bill (to the extent one can expect from a practice amp from the '90s).
Installation was simple and straightforward. The speaker was not secured in place in the original box (surprising) but no big deal. I've got to admit that seeing the speaker in the back with the Celestion logo is pretty cool too.
Recommended. For me it was this or the ceramic Jensen, but the other reviews steered me towards the Celestion for my tastes.

Even in super cheap amp, this speaker made a big difference
Sierak 12.11.2017
I've mounted this speaker in my Roland Cube 15-XL and the difference on clean channel was really huge, now amp has more both hi and low end, also sound is much warmer now. On gain channel it got much more transparent. Even for this super cheap practise combo I would recommend replacing standard speaker with this one, it was like listening to music from my laptop speaker and then plugging into normal decent one.
