Cool little amp
JonnyK 17.08.2016
Obviously I only use it for practicing in my studio/office. It's so cute, very compact, light, easy to move.

Build: It's made of plastic, with a metal grill. Battery powered, and batteries seem to last quite a while.

Sound:
It sounds pretty great. It's got a lovely mid-range crunch to it, with a usable tone knob from dark to bright. There is a crackle/hiss though, and it's a little muddy, but it's not made for recording. For practice, it's fine. I use it on bass too. Delay is poor. Gets washed out easily, difficult to hear if it's there at all. PS, this thing is LOUD. I mean way louder than I thought it'd be.

Pro's:
Usable tones, usable features, batteries last long, compact, cool looking, loud-ish.

Con's:
Crackle/hiss, delay is poor, a little muddy.

All in all, I'd recommend this for the casual guitarist if you want an affordable, small amp to noodle around on that can be stored away in a drawer with ease. It's BY FAR the best of the pocket size mini amps on the market. It's not a toy, but it's not an amp either. It is what it is!

Check it out!

For the money, it's hard to beat
JamieBaker 16.02.2023
This is a great little practice amp for anyone who needs to keep the volume down at home, it was ideal for me living in an apartment when I want to practice or play my electric guitar. It's really a tiny little amp, perfectly portable and it can run on batteries.

Of course there are going to be limitations on an amp of this size and cost, the sound is not going to blow you away. It has some quality onboard effects, like an overdrive distortion and a reverb effect that allows some versatility and lets you play different styles without the need to take pedals with you.

The build quality feels sturdy enough, it is plastic so again I wouldn't want to drop it from any sort of height.

But if you're looking for a small, cheap amp to practice guitar quietly, this is going to be hard to beat.

P
good, but a real shame for the power supply
Philisac 17.01.2022
AMp is really fine in itself but they use a proprietary power supply at 6.5 V and a special plug that you have to buy at 33E from BS, hence the 2 stars. Otherwise use batteries but you will quickly increase the cost on that side too. So that is a shame really for using it, otherwise I have the stereo version and it sounds awesome for guitar but also for my laptop audio.

A
A small surprise
Alexandros2024 19.02.2024
After so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. Small, very light, but for it's size, it has a really good sound. From the cleans to crunch and up to it's (expected) little noisy distortion, I can only say that Blackstar beat the antagonists with this small battery powered amp. It has become my every day practice amp when I am not using my voxac15 because of it's good sound, and keeping the noise down late at night. As for the features, it has a delay which I am not using. For the price, slightly more that the other mini amps but I dare to say that it's worth it.

Nice and small.
Hoac 17.09.2019
It's a nice practice amp that you can take anywhere because of its
compact size.

For features, it has a Gain Volume EQ and a Delay knob which is nice to have / There is also a headphone jack that is nice to have if you don't want to disturb anyone.

The sound can get a bit muffled when the Gain and Volume knobs are turned to 11 but thats to be expected of a small amp.

The quality of the amp itself doesn't feel cheap the knobs feel good and it looks great.

In conclusion, it is a great practice amp that can be brought anywhere because of its small size and is also affordable.

C
Very Useful
Cimex 20.05.2018
Cool little practice amp. Definitely not a "real" practice amp "hence the price" but to have something to carry around or have in your car this is the perfect thing. I also love the fact that you can use this as a little speaker if you're out in the park with friends.
It's not as loud as a regular practice amp but it gets the job done. I wish the distortion was better but you can use a pedal if you want better distortion. Overall I'm happy with it.

Probably the best mini amp along with the boss katana mini and the orange crush mini, very good clean tones and although it doesnt have that much gain, its still very usable gain

Solides Produkt für den Preis
Anonymous 04.01.2017
Für den Heimgebrauch (zu 80% mit Kopfhörer verwendet) eine super- kompakte Lösung, tadellose Verarbeitung, solider Klang, Volumen/Gain sollten eher zurückhaltend verwendet werden (nur 3 Watt)

J
Best battery powered mini amp
Jgoh 22.06.2017
Got this Blackstar fly 3 for a week from thomann for some testing and bedroom use especially when i am lazy to switch on my axe fx during the night. Don't be fool by it's size.

I was totally blown away by this little battery powered amp for it's build quality, ease of use as well as the sound quality. The build in delay is sweet. It's so simple and easy to use. There's no need to read through any instruction at all. Plug and play.

Pros: Build & Sound quality (Clean/Overdriven Channel), Decent Delay effect
Cons: It'll be best if it comes with the adapter

I have tried the Marshall and Orange battery powered mini amp and nothing comes close in term of the tone i get from the FLY 3. This is probably the best purchase this year till date. Amazing product and totally worth the money spend. Totally recommended.
