Good headphone amp considered its price range
Anonymous 28.05.2016
I had a very specific application for the HA400, and despite the price it serves this purpose very well. My use case was to route my TV to multiple headphones and to a Super T-amp. The main connection is from the headphone out of the TV to the input of the HA400, then each channel of the HA400 goes into a dedicated headphone or the T-Amp. I have headphones with multiple impedance so a simple split cable would not do. The sound quality is quite good, all considered. The HA400 is very quiet until about 85% where a noticeable hiss is introduced in the channel. I A/B compared with few CDs and while there is some sound coloration, I could not feel any meaningful difference between directly playing from a CD player into the T-Amp or going through the TV with the HA400, but of course the whole setup is not for audiophile listening. I don't think this little preamp can really be used for proper headphone mixing, although I don't see a problem in using it for tracking with multiple musicians. This is definitely a well made little box, it does what it says, and is cheap!

K
loud enough
Keramys 30.11.2021
I'm using it to give to the musicians a beat or a mix to play on it, so I don't seek the sound quality here. It amplifies the signal well and you have to be careful with the input signal so it's not clipping

RR
Does what it supposed to
Rick Rizza 10.06.2020
I use this product to enable 4 headphones attachment from my mixer. Since various headphones attached (my friends bring their own headphones), and independent gain function is be beneficial.

Pros:
+ Metal case with a box shape and quite small. Very beneficial.
I stick velcro strap on the amp and another velcro on my mixer, so this amp stay attached to the side of my mixer and removable if needed. It doesn't ruin the aesthetic at all and all knobs are accessible.
+ The knob felt heavy to turn, this gives a better adjustment control
+ Sound quality --> as it is

Cons:
- No off switch

I would recommend this headphone amp. It's cheap and of a fair quality.

Great bang for buck amp
Gogmus 20.04.2022
I mean, all I needed was an amp to drive my 250 ohm DT 1990 Pros. It does the job, and doesn't complain, which is fine by me. It can drive up to 4 headphones, but I'm not going to try that. For the most part, I left the gain at 50% and adjusted it via software. Unfortunately, being in the UK, it comes with a EU power supply. Thomann is nice enough to include a EU to UK plug adapter for free.

Only missing one feature
DIoni 06.11.2020
No issues with this amp - one thing to notice is, that you have to be carefull in sending enough signal into the amp, as the amp it self might not be loud enough when recording drums. No issues with a limiter on the signal to ensure the volume. One thing I would like to see is seperate inputs for the 4 amps - or at least two inputs to toggle between - but then again, that would cost more and this is so dirt cheap - but I'd pay a bit more to have that option at least.

Exactly as it should be for that price .
James Chris 06.12.2024
As someone who lives in an apartment with minimal sound proofing i needed a way to jam with my band using headphones . This thing does exactly what i wanted , no more no less . Its functional , i can adjust the volume to each individual headphone with ease so for its money its great.

Affordable Problem Solver
Poonzah 07.02.2024
It's wonderful considering its price.

- Very light, weight-wise, which is good for portability and bad for stability on the desk.
- Its amplifer increases high-mid frequency but not too much to cause issues for most use-cases.

CR
It does the job
Creation Recording Studio 11.05.2020
This stereo headphone amplifier works fine if you need extra outputs for more musicians, but don't expect extra volume just because you've got an extra headphone amp, I bought this headphone amp just in case I needed more headphones out in some situations that could arise. I bought it more as a splitter and not an amplifier. In this case it does the job well.

Dominant high-cut but does the job!
Anonymous 04.03.2023
Good for what it costs. But sound gets quite muffled. Doesn't sound bad at all. My P-Bass with fresh Roundwounds is nicely motown now.

Would not recommend for recording and sound design though!!

Good value for money
tim_smd 20.10.2023
I was initially going for Mackie HM4, but it was out of stock.

It seemed like a decent substitute and it is. I can clearly hear the 50Hz buzz when my notebook is connected to the charger and it goes away if I unplug. It tells me that electronics night be not shielded properly.

Overall it is a decent device, especially at this price point.
If you have such option - go for Mackie over this one.
