Fairly bad crosstalk
ninbura 22.12.2023
This unit is great for running 1-8 mics in the same environment, as you'll get crosstalk naturally from your microphones picking up the surrounding environment.

However, if you had planned to mix and match dissimilar sources that cross talk becomes a pretty big nuisance. I was attempting to run mics on inputs 1&2 and an hdmi audio extractor on inputs 3&4. The signal from the mics was clearly audible on inputs 3&4, and vice versa.

Like I said, great for mic-ing a single environment / source. For example, drums. You'll get natural crosstalk much louder than the internal crosstalk. But for trying to isolate totally dissimilar sources you're going to run into trouble.

great for cheap expansion
Noisecraft 13.09.2021
I combine these with the focusrite 18i20 2nd gen.
It's a great pairing, offering cheap yet decent IO
The ultragain preamps are noticably noisier than the focusrite 18i20, but for interfacing line level inputs at sensible gain settings, it's not that big a deal.

Actual professionals will probably steer away from this, but for an amateur with standards, its totally fine.

meeeeeh. It's alright, nothing too fancy. Can extend your I/O. sounds alright, not too cheap, not too expensive. good for live applications. However, the rack mount ears dimensons are waaay off. I struggled to get it mounted on my setup.

Good enough, considering the price
MartinTs 16.02.2021
This is the cheapest 8 I/O you can get, and it does it as good as one can expect, considering it costs 1/4 of the next possible option (octoPre)
I haven't noticed any problems with the sound in particular but one thing which should be considered is that the gain knobs are not exactly matched, if you are setting up a stereo pair you might have to set the gain slightly differently.

Good for the money
Vicarious 01.12.2020
A very cheap option to expand your channel inputs.

I use this product mainly to record drums for non-professional recordings. It enables me to expand the 8 channels I had, to 16.

Pros:
- The obvious pro is the price. It is an extremely cheap way to extend the number of channels you can record.

Cons:
- The build quality leaves a LOT to be desired. I have no idea what kind of QA is done of the build of the product, but the very first time I picked it up and packed it to bring it to my rehearsal space, I got quite a deep cut on my hand due to the incredibly sharp edges on the front panel. Those edges are sharper than many knives!
