Heavy on the ears

The sound is mainly good, but the big problem is the tightness of the headphones. These really press on your skull and wearing them for more than 30 minutes is really painful. Had to get a different pair instead of these.

Decent sound

Audio Technica is known for producing great headphones and you may find them in different studios. This is a great entry-level headphone. Preferably used for Live takes within a studio. This cannot be used for mixing/mastering tracks. Its meant for live musicians on stage or in a live setting of a studio.

They're Ok.
Anonymous 03.02.2017
The ATH-M30 X's are ok. They do the job nicely. But not very suitable for use when mixing. They're quite bass-heavy. I have some of the other ATH headphones which are excellent for mixing purposes.
But the M30's are perfectly fine for tracking. And they are very comfortable to wear for extended periods. Definitely worth having a few pairs in your live room!!!
The build quality and overall look and feel of the ATH M30 X headphones is excellent. But I wouldn't expect anything else from a company such as Audio Technica.
If you have an extra ¤30 to spend, get the M40's. There's a world of a difference. And for around ¤140 you'll get the M50's which blow most of the competition away!!!
