I expected more in terms of comfort...
The Jamma 26.10.2020
I recently returned a Focusrite Scarlet Solo because it didn't suit my needs and the headphones that came with it were far better than these at a similar price i guess (It was a bundle deal).

These headphone have an elastic system that 'auto adjusts' to your head/ear size and i really don't like it. Its not as comfortable as adjustable headphones and you cant 'overadjust' them a bit to reduce the weight/contact with you head so you've always got a plastic strip on your head.

For me the padding around the ears is too hard for long use comfort, and they are quite small - which, if like me you have chunky earrings, makes it really uncomfortable until you kind of tuck them into the headphones!

I also found the tension too much and feel too much pressure on my ears, again with no way to adjust it.

And finally, a small but irritating thing is the elastic adjuster means that (on one side) some of the auto adjusting sliding stuff hits the metal rim around the speaker scratching the gold colour off.

Overall they sound OK but for the reasons above, I cant wear them for long so i'm changing them

AKG Headphones
Simon C 20.12.2018
I'm not convinced !
I'm using headphones out of a Guitar amp. Up till now been using some cheap JBL branded headphones from the supermarket ! Thought I'd treat myself and purchase something a little more "grown up". My first and immediate impression was that the AKG's just seem "dead" in comparison. I'm sure they lack something around the 3/4 mid to high frequency, clarity, presence, life, whatever you want to call it.
Playing P90 or single coil Tele guitars, the old JBL'S sound alive and portray the character of those pickups. I put on the AKG's and it's like listening through cotton wool. I even give the pickup height a tweak on the treble side and / or push the EQ on the amp.

Sound is very subjective, which sound is right. Which speaker is correctly rendering what you've actually got at source, short of actually measuring with laboratory equipment. So maybe the AKG's are technically "faithful". They are nicely made and fairly comfortable, appear to be of a quality. But as I sit here and revue my Thomann purchases, I have listened through the same classical piano cd via headphones old and new and the old are a lot more dynamic and enjoyable to my hearing - I don't believe the JBL's have any "onboard" processing / enhancement.

The AKG's are okay. Are they good ? - I have no idea.

Mediocre headphones
Vanio 12.01.2023
I expected more, especially after reading reviews here and there. The reality is that the headphones are mediocre. The lack of low frequencies is obvious, making the overall sound look flat, even though the highs sound right. They are also not very comfy and your ears get hot soon.
The open design does not excuse the sound quality as I also have Audio Technica ATH AVA400 which is way-way better.

Different than the old ones
HenriV. 18.01.2021
Pleased with the Thomann-service, and the quality and comfort of the new AKG-240 Studio. But the sound seems not the same as my old 240 (55ohm), that has written 'Made in Austria' on it. The 'made in PRC' new one sounds less detailed and spacious, a little dull, as to say. I checked by listening to the same parts of a (classic rock) song on the same equipment, alternating between the old and new 240.

The 'Made in Austria'-ones cost quite more than the new ones, I remember. There has to be difference in the quality of components too, I guess? (Maybe the new 240 MK II sounds better?) Who knows more about it?

Belgian greetings.

Does the job (mostly)

Decent for the low price. Not ideal for users with long hair as hair catches easily in the hinges. Cable seems rather flimsy but is replaceable.

Good But Needs Improvements
riosoliveira 28.02.2018
Sounds great into a iphone or a laptop and it doesn't need any amplification. So it works very well just for listening to music. Giving you favorite tracks a pleasent sound and a fresh start.
I would consider buying a smaller helix cable to use as a alternative but i think the one that comes with the 240 is good for the recording process.
They are comfortable and look nice.
I feel i will use them for many years to come.
A down side - They need to improve on the quality of materials ,construction and details !

AKG K-240 Studio

This headphones are pretty robust and very comfortable, but the sound is not so good, especially the low end. AKG K-240 mkII are little expensive but they are much much better sounding headphones.

Semi-open headphones for a reasonable price
alex_burt 19.08.2024
I use these headphones for years. The overall quality is very good.

But in my opinion the sound is not very good: to my taste there is too much low-end. So, I would not recommend them for listening and/or mixing the music.
In principle, it is possible to use them during the recording sessions (as I do sometimes). However there can be some leakage of sound since these headphones are semi-open.

Summarizing, the headphones are fine and robust, but I couldn't find a good application for them.

Ok-ish for the price
Dude from Latvia 29.08.2023
Bass response is weak. Impotent. I’m new to studio headphones though. Maybe it’s supposed to be so weak - maybe what I call weak, more competent people call flat. My reference point is Bose QC35 and Airpods 2nd gen. I don’t any other studio headphones to compare AKG 240 to.
