Returning it and never buying Adam Audio subs again.
Fredrik H 26.09.2020
I bought it In July 2020.
Used it for about 2 months.

Since the problems started to surface I dove deeper in forums about Adam Audios subs (their monitors is still my favorite, it's only their subs that have low Quality Control)
A lot of people are having issues with Adams subs from Sub 7, Sub 8 and Sub 10. (the newer models)

I use it with a pair of Adam A5X

And here are the issues -
My Sub just shorted out or something, crackling and popping after being quiet for 20min. The LED on the volume knob started to flash orange/red kinda like it starting it up, every time it started it's glitch this happened.
I turned the LowPass-Filter knob and the volume back and forth. It stopped the glitches. Now it only makes 40-50hz "thumps" every couple of minutes. (reminds you of car doors shutting outside of your house)

The knobs has a PCB board inside of them for the LEDs, that is very loose fitting and can rattle.

The auto-standby never worked.
(could also be a fault from factory, but others have described the same problem)
It goes into standby if you are playing music lower than 65-70dB. (not ideal, because it will go into standby when you are working on a quiet part of your song)

The 85hz cutoff for satilites on the sub has the wrong crossover. I have to keep it raised to about 95hz for it to fill the frequency gap. Or raise the volume of the sub (too loud) to make it match better at 85hz crossover.

Adam Sub 8 with Adam A7 monitors
John9304 25.05.2014
This is review is for everyone like my self who has been considering the purchase of the Adam Sub 8 and is still a little apprehensive.

I own a pair of Adam A7s. The monitors are fantastic but lack in the low frequencies. I have been mixing successfully on these for many years but recently have stumbled due to the lack of lows. I usually mix Heavy Metal, Rock, Punk etc. and I have never had an issue with the lows but now I have been working on some Dance / House and realized that my lows are completely out. When playing back on a full range system the bass completely overpowers the mix & in my lame defense I had now idea these frequencies were even there when mixing the track.

The Adam Sub 8 has given me the lows that I need to reference and has turned my kool A7 into a kick A** monitoring system. I can hear things I could never hear before and in return, even the music I’m really comfortable with mixing sounds even better and cleaner. It took me a while to get used to it but mixing for a few days (or maybe even a week or so) my ears have settled to the sound.

I’m in a home studio so nothing too fancy but now have the ability to feel even more confident in my mixes. May even consider the ARK system to help with room calibration

Overall a top piece of kit I’ve wanted for ages and now really happy. The only downside is the sub must be on all the time so will drive your neighbors crazy if you mix into the night (you can however turn the sub volume down so will help with this problem but would have been nice to just have a cut switch)

Not cheap not too expensive, but im not getting rid of mine ? happy mixing!

Deep, Powerful, Clear

Set up in my home studio alongside my A7X's.
Seamlessly paired together with Mogami gold cable and sounds amazing.
Producing electronic and sampling music and use the speakers for referencing and general listening of everyday music.
You can tell the difference between differing quality of recordings and mastering as you should with transparent monitors.
Plugging the satellites into the Sub and being able to set my own crossover point gave me the control or setting at 85Hz flat is as flexible as it gets.
Once set up for my room I have not had to readjust the volumes on either the A7X's or the Sub 8 and have never turned them up to max, in fact the A7X's sit on 0db and 0db on the Sub 8 is way too much for my liking and i like it deep and loud.
Only con as with most studio equipment is to turn the amps on/off last/first or Pop. Otherwise, no complaints at all.
The A7X's by themselves were great but with the added lows of the sub made my audio (wet) dreams come true!!
Project studio owners look no further than an Adam Audio set up, highly recommended.

No shake, no rattle, no roll

I'm very happy with my sub 8. The low end extension and definition is simply jaw dropping.
While my initial tought was "who needs a remote?", this option is mighty convenient.
A word of caution, this sub can and will reveal insufficiëntly damped room modes.
So before you invest in a sub like this, fix the acoustics of your room.
If you don't want to (or can't) do that, then this sub is not for you,
you're better off buying something about half the price...
In my case, when given a new choice, I would simply pick the sub 8 again.
